VR46 Racing Team is set to receive Ducati factory support starting 2025 MotoGP, the Italian marque has officially confirmed.
Ducati has officially announced multi-year partnership agreement with VR46 Racing Team and will receive its full factory support in MotoGP starting from the 2025 season, replacing Pramac as the primary satellite outfit for the manufacturer.
The announcement which was made during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, marks a significant shift in the MotoGP landscape as the squad takes over the role previously held by Pramac which switched to a factory partnership with Yamaha.
Founded by nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi in 2014, the VR46 Racing Team has rapidly ascended the ranks of MotoGP since its debut in the premier class in 2022.
In just two seasons, the team has achieved three victories and has demonstrated its potential through impressive performances, including Marco Bezzecchi’s third-place finish in the 2023 MotoGP World Championship.
The latest strategic move allows Ducati to maintain a strong presence in the satellite team arena while ensuring that VR46 Racing has access to the latest technology and resources.
Under the new agreement, the VR46 team will have access to the latest Ducati Desmosedici GP24 bikes and full technical and sporting support from the factory marque. However, they will receive only one factory-spec bike, which is a shift from the previous arrangement where Pramac received two factory machines.
“From day one the VR46 Racing Team has shown that it knows how to work in perfect harmony with Ducati and in recent years we have achieved great results,” said Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna.
“We are happy to be able to further strengthen this relationship by giving the team ‘factory’ support starting next season. I am sure that together we can achieve great things. I thank Valentino, Uccio and Pablo and all the people who work with great passion and dedication.”
While VR46 Racing is yet to announce its line up, Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi confirmed Fabio di Giannantonio will receive the GP25 bike next year as Franco Morbidelli makes a switch from Pramac to become his team-mate on a GP24, in place of Marco Bezzecchi who will be joining Aprilia.
Therefore, rookie Fermin Aldeguer is set to join Alex Marquez at Gresini rounding out Ducati’s reduced six-rider line-up.
“I can only be proud to announce that from the next year the VR46 Racing Team will be the Ducati Factory Supported Team in MotoGP,”
“I can only be proud to announce that from the next year the VR46 Racing Team will be the Ducati Factory Supported Team in MotoGP,” said VR46 team director Alessio Salucci. “We will be on track with an official bike and a GP24.
“If they had said it a few years ago, I wouldn’t have believed it. It’s a truly significant moment for the entire group: having achieved this result in just three years, with a young team, with so many guys with us from Moto3, is something extraordinary.
“I want to thank all the people who work in the Team, the partners, Ducati and Gigi Dall’Igna for having believed in this project and having today managed to enhance it as it deserves.
“We have demanding years ahead of us, full of challenges, but we can’t wait to test ourselves and try to achieve ambitious results.”
