Visa Cash App RB has taken the wraps off their brand-new 2024 F1 challenger that they’ve decided to name VCARB 01 following their winter rebrand.
The Visa Cash App RB Formula 1 Team made a magnificent arrival for the 2024 F1 season with an exceptional launch event under the sparkling neon splendor of Las Vegas Boulevard.
Key members of the team such as Team Principal Laurent Mekies and CEO Peter Bayer graced the occasion by expressing their goals for the team’s next chapter along with their star drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda.
The blue, black and white VCARB 01 is heavily sponsored by new partners Visa and Cash App, which reflects the aspirations and increasing popularity of the Faenza-based team. Beneath the eye-catching livery, however, is the most exciting feature: closer collaboration with sister team Red Bull.
Following the resignation of former team principal Franz Tost, the Faenza-based outfit underwent significant changes. Laurent Mekies, formerly the Ferrari Racing Director, succeeded Austrian, who left the team at the conclusion of the previous season.
Visa Cash App RB’s new CEO is Peter Bayer, who has been the FIA’s Secretary General for Sport since 2017. Meanwhile, Alan Permane has joined the Faenza team on the technical front as the Director of Racing after he was sacked by Alpine at the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix.
Seasoned drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda remain as team drivers, hoping to take advantage of the enhanced VCARB 01 and propel the team to success as Red Bull reserve Liam Lawson is once again waiting in the wings, prepared to jump in at a moment’s notice if needed.
The Visa Cash App RB squad which was previously known as AlphaTauri is willing to accommodate as many transferable components—parts that were previously not listed—from the senior Red Bull team as per the regulations as part of a redesigned philosophy under its new identity.
However, following the initial revelation of the partnership’s full extent, Red Bull’s ownership of both teams and this came under fire from several parties, most notably McLaren CEO Zak Brown.
Red Bull provides the front pull-rod and rear push-rod suspension for the VCARB-01 as the same setup has been applied by a number of teams launching their new machines so far.
Red Bull Technologies also provides the power steering, brake system, gearbox, and exhaust as the team designed the brake ducts and monocoque in compliance with rules.
