Max Verstappen won his 23rd Formula 1 race at the Miami Grand Prix, joining the prestigious all-time list of top Formula 1 drivers.
Max Verstappen won his third race of the season and his 23rd in Formula 1 at the Miami Grand Prix, putting him just three wins away from joining the list of top ten drivers with the most wins in the sport’s history.
While he isn’t quite there yet, the Dutchman did break into the top 10 podium scorers with his P1 finish at the Miami International Autodrome.
The podium was his 63rd since making his Formula One debut in 2015, and the Red Bull driver has now surpassed David Coulthard, who had 62 podiums in the sport.
Valtteri Bottas, who has 67 podiums to his career, is only ahead of Verstappen.
Fernando Alonso is sixth on the record with 98 podium finishes, Sebastian Vettel is third with 122 podium finishes, and Lewis Hamilton is first with 183 podium finishes.
The increase in races each season in recent years has given drivers like Verstappen the advantage of being able to accumulate more podiums in each campaign.
When comparing the percentages of podium places to the total number of Grands Prix competed in by each driver, Verstappen’s performance is comparable to that of some of the other drivers in the top ten.
The 24-year-old is almost as high as Vettel in terms of percentage, but still trails Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, and Ayrton Senna.
