Valencia post-season test returns in the revised 2022 schedule

The number of official MotoGP tests has been reduced for the 2023 season due to the expanding racing calendar.

The statement of a one-day test “after the final event of [the] 2022 season, at the same circuit” suggests Valencia, which hosts the 2022 finale on November 4-6.

The report also indicates that the Sepang tests will continue and that the Qatar test will resume, but that the Jerez test will be cancelled.

Until 2020, teams and riders stayed in Valencia after the customary season finale for a post-season test before returning to Jerez for another outing.

Valencia, however, was omitted from the winter calendar in favour of a single appearance at Jerez, right before the December testing ban began.

Valencia will now host the lone post-season 2022 testing action, reversing the previous plan. Because the event has been shortened to just one day, newcomers and riders switching manufacturers will only get a taste of their updated equipment.
