Toprak Razgatlioglu maintained his strong performance by topping in Czech WorldSBK FP2 ahead of Alvaro Bautista.
ROKiT BMW Motorrad’s Toprak Razgatlioglu reigned dominance in second practice for 2024 Czech WorldSBK at Autodrom Most after clocking an impressive lap time of 1:31.547, further solidifying his status as the championship leader.
Despite improving his own time by over 0.4 seconds from FP1, Razgatlioglu’s advantage diminished compared to earlier sessions. In FP1, he had a lead of nearly 0.3 seconds, but in FP2, his margin over the competition shrank to just 0.103 seconds.
Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Alvaro Bautista emerged as his closest rival, demonstrating remarkable speed throughout the session.
The reigning WorldSBK champion was the only other rider to lap in the 1:31s, finishing with a time of 1:31.650. His performance indicates a significant improvement as he aims to close the gap in the championship standings. The competition between Razgatlıoğlu and Bautista is heating up, promising an exciting battle as the weekend progresses.
Meanwhile Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea was third fastest with a time of 1:32.033 after delivering a consistent performance throughout the session as he continues to challenge for podium positions.
Alex Lowes and Nicolo Bulega rounded out the top five, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Lowes clocked a time of 1:32.150, while Bulega followed closely with a time of 1:32.207. Both riders demonstrated competitive pace, indicating they could be serious contenders in the upcoming races.
Danilo Petrucci finished sixth with a time of 1:32.362 marking an improvement as he adapts to the challenging conditions at Autodrom Most. Remy Gardner, who had a strong showing in FP1, finished seventh in FP2 with a time of 1:32.465, indicating he remains a threat in the championship.
Michael van der Mark and Andrea Locatelli followed in eighth and ninth, respectively, while Andrea Iannone completed the top ten. Iannone’s performance is particularly noteworthy as he continues to find his footing in the series after a run of disappointing performances in recent events.
Unfortunately, Michael Ruben Rinaldi faced technical issues that prevented him from setting a competitive time in FP2.
