Toprak Razgatlioglu delivered a dominant performance to win Czech WorldSBK Race 2 at Autodrom Most, as Alvaro Bautista and Danilo Petrucci suffered an early crash.
ROKiT BMW Motorrad’s Toprak Razgatlioglu secured a commanding victory in Race 2 of the 2024 Czech WorldSBK at the Autodrom Most, marking his third consecutive win of the weekend and tenth straight win this season.
The Turkish rider completed a perfect weekend, topping the timesheets in every session and claiming his 130th podium in WorldSBK, equaling Troy Corser’s record.
The race commenced with an unexpected turn of events as reigning champion Alvaro Bautista and Danilo Petrucci collided at Turn 1, resulting in an early exit for both riders and significantly altering the dynamics of the race.
Nicolo Bulega, who briefly led the race, put up a strong fight but ultimately finished second, 3.239 seconds behind Razgatlioglu. Meanwhile, Andrea Locatelli made a welcomed return to the podium, securing third place after a 147-day hiatus.
Razgatlioglu’s dominance was evident throughout the race. Despite Bulega’s strong start, Razgatlioglu overtook him on Lap 5 and began to extend his lead. The Turkish rider’s strategic tire choices, utilizing the new SC1 development tire from Pirelli, provided exceptional grip on the abrasive surface of the Most circuit, allowing him to maintain a commanding pace.
As the race progressed, Razgatlioglu’s competitors battled for the remaining top positions. Michael van der Mark, Remy Gardner, and Jonathan Rea fought for positions within the top 10, with Rea showcasing strong pace towards the end of the race.
Gardner secured fourth place, followed by van der Mark in fifth, Rea in sixth and Michael Ruben Rinaldi, who finished as the top independent rider in seventh.
The final lap saw Razgatlioglu comfortably in the lead, allowing him to focus on maintaining his pace without making errors. However, the excitement was not entirely over, as Axel Bassani crashed out at Turn 17, adding to the day’s drama.
