Sergio Perez claims to have misplaced one of his helmets before of the Miami Grand Prix, which he misplaced during a promotional stunt in which he lapped the new Florida circuit.
Red Bull driver Sergio Perez is looking for a missing helmet in Florida ahead of the 2022 Miami Grand Prix, which will be held for the first time in the state of Florida since 1959.
The newly constructed circuit will circle Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, featuring tight turns and long straights.
According to a recent Red Bull promotional video, Perez has already driven the track, making him the first driver on the current grid to do so.
However, he has disclosed that the team’s shoot in Miami did not go as planned, with one of his race helmets getting stolen.
“Someone took my helmet,” said Perez when asked for his first thoughts on the Miami track.
“I am still looking for my helmet. I don’t know where it is so far! Hopefully I will be able to find it later.”
Red Bull is in good form heading into the inaugural Miami Grand Prix event, having scored a maximum 44 points on race day at Imola.
This allowed them to cut the gap on leaders Ferrari, with Max Verstappen – who also won the Sprint – giving his World Championship bid a new lease on life.
“We’ve been so unlucky. The start has been so difficult for us, so I’m very pleased to see everyone on my team is smiling,” Perez added.
“We just have to keep working. I think there are still a few bits that we have to make better to get closer to the win, but I’m very happy that Max got it.”
