Sebastian Vettel confirms racing return alongside Schumacher for 2025 Race of Champions

Four-time F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel has announced his return to racing, teaming up with fellow German driver Mick Schumacher for the 2025 Race of Champions.

This exciting collaboration marks a significant moment in motorsport, as two of Germany’s most prominent figures join forces to represent their country in a highly anticipated event.

Scheduled to take place on March 7-8, 2025, at the Accor Stadium, the Race of Champions promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and competition.

Sebastian Vettel’s decision to return to racing comes after his retirement from F1 at the end of the 2022 season. During his illustrious career, he raced for top teams including Red Bull Racing, Ferrari, and Aston Martin, amassing an impressive record that includes four world championships.

His partnership with Mick Schumacher, son of legendary seven-time champion Michael Schumacher, adds an extra layer of intrigue to the event. The duo will compete in the ROC Nations Cup on Friday and then battle for the individual title on Saturday.

The Race of Champions is known for its unique format, where drivers from various motorsport disciplines come together to compete in identical cars. This level playing field allows for pure racing competition, stripping away any advantages that might come from differing vehicle performance.

Vettel expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “I’m delighted to be coming back to the Race Of Champions and teaming up with Mick again. It will be exciting to race in the former Olympic Stadium in Sydney that looks like it will be a great venue for the Race Of Champions.”

Vettel’s history with the ROC is notable; he won the individual title at London’s Olympic Stadium in 2015 and has teamed with Michael Schumacher to secure six Nations Cup victories for Germany. His previous collaboration with Mick in 2019 saw them finish as runners-up in the ROC Nations Cup held in Mexico.

The upcoming event will not only be a chance for Vettel to showcase his skills once more but also an opportunity for Schumacher to establish himself further in the motorsport world.

Mick Schumacher has been eager to make his mark since leaving Formula 1 after the 2022 season. He finished as runner-up at the ROC Sweden in 2023 and is currently in contention for a seat at Sauber (Audi) for the 2025 F1 season.

His partnership with Vettel is expected to elevate both their profiles as they aim for victory at ROC Sydney.

“Australia is one of my favourite places,” Schumacher remarked, expressing his excitement about representing Germany alongside Sebastian Vettel.

“After finishing second in the individual ROC in Sweden in 2023 and in the ROC Nations Cup in ROC Mexico with Seb, the goal this time has to be the overall winners’ trophy both in the ROC Nations Cup on Friday night and in the individual Race Of Champions on Saturday.

“I very much look forward to meeting all the other drivers and spending time with them during the Race Of Champions weekend in Sydney. I am sure the drivers will have a crazy good time together and put on a super show for the Australian fans.”

The significance of this collaboration extends beyond just the competition itself; it symbolizes a reunion of sorts between two generations of German racing talent. Vettel’s experience combined with Schumacher’s youthful vigor creates a formidable team dynamic that fans are eager to witness.

The ROC has historically attracted top-tier talent from various racing backgrounds, and with Vettel and Schumacher on board, expectations are high for an exhilarating event.

As anticipation builds for next year’s Race of Champions, fans can expect a star-studded lineup featuring numerous renowned drivers from different motorsport categories including Formula 1, Le Mans, IndyCar, NASCAR, Supercars, World Rally, and Rallycross.
