Santino Ferrucci has officially signed a multi-year extension with AJ Foyt Racing, ensuring his place in the team for the 2025 IndyCar season and beyond.
The announcement made on September 12, 2024 marks an exciting continuation of Ferrucci’s journey with the iconic racing team, as he gears up for his third season with them.
Santino Ferrucci, a talented driver known for his aggressive racing style and determination, first entered the IndyCar scene in 2018. Since then, he has made a name for himself, showcasing his skills across various tracks and earning respect within the motorsport community.
The Woodbury, Connecticut native’s journey has not been without challenges, but his resilience and commitment to improvement have been evident throughout his career.
Before joining AJ Foyt Racing, Ferrucci had stints with several teams, including Dale Coyne Racing and the now-defunct Formula E team. His ability to adapt and quickly learn made him a valuable asset, and his performances often drew attention, leading to his eventual signing with Foyt Racing.
The 26-year old will continue running the No. 14 Chevrolet alongside new signing from McLaren David Malukas, creating a dynamic duo that could boost the team’s performance on the track.
“I’m thrilled to continue with Santino in the No.14 car,” said team president Larry Foyt. “We have really gelled over the last two seasons and he’s a big part of our recent success.
“This continuity is great for the team and I believe the pairing of Ferrucci and Malukas next season is a powerful combination for AJ Foyt Racing.”
Ferrucci currently sits 10th in the drivers’ championship on 339 points, marking the first time a Foyt entry has been inside the top 10 going into the final race since 2002.
“I think Larry’s done a great job building the team so they are now in a position to win an Indy 500 and compete for championships,” Ferrucci said. “Everybody that’s there is what made this team’s amazing turnaround.
“We’ve all put a lot of time, energy and hard work into this program and I really want to see it through, not just as the driver but on a personal level, too.”
Ferrucci scored his first IndyCar pole position in Portland last month and finished fourth in the last two races on the Milwaukee oval, his best results so far this season.
His previous best championship positions were 13th in 2019 and 2020 when he drove for Coyne.
