Red Bull announces launch date for 2022 contender

The Red Bull team has unveiled its 2022 car launch plans ahead of its title defense this season.

Red Bull will be the first team to unveil its ride for the 2022 season, which will defend Max Verstappen’s championship after his success last season. The team will also offer a fully immersive fan experience.

Last year, the Milton Keynes-based firm helped Max Verstappen to his maiden world title, with the Dutch driver edging out Lewis Hamilton in the very controversial season finale in Abu Dhabi to win the drivers’ championship.

Following an announcement on Thursday Red Bull said that its new car, the RB18, will be unveiled on February 9, becoming the first team to launch their 2022 championship contender.

As a result, eight of the 10 teams have revealed when they will launch their 2022 challengers, with Haas and Willians yet to confirm their plans.

For the 2022 season, Verstappen will once again be partnered by Sergio Perez, who joined the team from Racing Point which rebranded to Aston Martin, last year. Perez played an important role in helping Verstappen win the championship.

This will be Red Bull’s first season without Honda as an engine partner, following the Japanese manufacturer’s withdrawal at the end of last year.

Honda is said to have chosen to supply its power units straight to Red Bull until the end of 2025, rather than waiting for the team’s highly anticipated Powertrains section to take complete charge.
