Proton Competition revealed a new livery for its Porsche 963 Hypercar entry for the 2024 WEC serving as a tribute to its 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans victory.
Proton Competition has unveiled the livery for their Porsche 963 for the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship along with confirming the return of an old-time sponsor, F.A.T International.
The 2024 Porsche 963 Hypercar which will be piloted by Neel Jani, Harry Tincknell, and Julien Andlauer will sport the same colours as Porsche’s 1994 Le Mans race-winning Dauer 962 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of its achievement.
The Proton Competition entry is fully customized in blue and white featuring a black cockpit and shark fin. The car’s rear section is decked out in three red stripes, denoting F.A.T International’s major sponsorship role.
According to the company website, F.A.T International “celebrates the automotive world’s rich history and cultural impact.”
The company has previously sponsored two Le Mans winners: the Dauer Porsche 962, also known as the Dauer 962 Le Mans, which Jochen Dauer converted from a Group C car and ran it in the GT1 class in 1994.
Remarkably, the Dauer 962 from which Proton based its livery was on display to the general public back in January during the 2024 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona.
F.A.T. branding also appeared on the TWR-Porsche WSC95 that gave Tom Kristensen his first Le Mans victory in 1997.
Proton Competition’s #99 963 is scheduled to race in the 2024 WEC alongside the Ford Mustang LMGT3 program. The 2024 WEC season starts on Saturday 2nd March, with the Qatar 1812km, at Lusail International Circuit.
