Ferrari Academy driver Oliver Bearman has been confirmed by PREMA Racing for 2024 FIA Formula 2.
Ferrari Academy driver Oliver Bearman will continue racing with PREMA in the FIA Formula 2 Championship next season in an effort to improve on his 2023 rookie campaign.
Having also competed in FIA Formula 3 with the Italian team in 2022, the new deal maintains the British drivers’ relationship with the squad.
Bearman had a stellar rookie campaign with four wins and three pole positions.
On top of that, the 17-year-old won his first race in F2 in Azerbaijan during his rookie season earning all the points possible from the weekend by winning the Sprint and Feature Races, as well as pole position and fastest lap points.
Bearman also ran in two FP1 sessions for the Haas F1 Team making his Formula 1 debut as a result of his outstanding performances. With 130 points, the teenager ultimately placed sixth in the F2 Drivers’ Standings.
“I’m really happy to be joining PREMA Racing again in Formula 2,” Bearman said in a statement on the team’s website. “I’ve come a long way as a driver and as a person these two years thanks to them, and I’m excited to continue the work we have been doing into next season.”
Bearman teams up with current Formula Regional champion and Mercedes’ top prospect Andrea Kimi Antonelli in a driver lineup that seems likely to rule the F2 grid in 2024.
“It is great to have Ollie back with us for another year after the great seasons he had with us so far,” added Team Principal Rene Rosin. “The way he adapted, improved, and developed is outstanding, and we cannot wait to see what this progress will take us further down the road.
“We also think that the experience he had this year will help him and the team in adapting to the new car. It’s definitely going to be an interesting and promising experience.”
