Nico Muller has signed with Andretti Formula E team for the upcoming 2024/25 season, replacing Norman Nato.
The strategic move not only marks a fresh chapter in Muller’s racing career but also solidifies his position as a Porsche factory driver, boosting the competitive edge of its customer Andretti team in the electric racing series.
The Swiss driver’s move to the American team was confirmed on Tuesday, following weeks of speculation after he announced his departure from Abt ahead of the London season finale in July.
The 32-year old spent the last two seasons with the German team, and he made an impression by finishing with six points, including four straight points-scoring rounds towards the end of the season. He led his teammate and 2016/17 champion Lucas di Grassi by 48 points as a result of his stellar showing.
Now, Muller replaces Norman Nato, who spent just one season racing with Andretti Formula E team. The latter completed the season five points behind Nico in the drivers’ standings despite having a more competitive car and only managing one podium.
Muller will team up with Jake Dennis who won the 2022/23 drivers’ championship with Andretti’s team, which is a Porsche customer team. On the other hand, Pascal Wehrlein won the championship this year driving for the Porsche factory squad.
“I’m thrilled to join the Andretti Formula E team,” Muller said. “They’ve been successful from the start, especially in the Gen3 era with their partnership with Porsche Motorsport.
“Working alongside a former world champion like Jake Dennis is an honour, and I’m eager to contribute to the team’s success.
“My goal is to aim for podium finishes and secure my first Formula E win. I can’t wait to get started.”
Andretti CEO Michael Andretti commented: “We have high expectations for Season 11, and we’re confident that bringing in a driver of Nico’s calibre will help us achieve our goals.

“Nico has already successfully demonstrated his skills in various challenging racing series. Among other things, he has won the Nürburgring 24 Hours and was twice runner-up in the DTM.
“We initially expect his expertise in formula racing to play a crucial role for Porsche’s Formula E programme. We will announce at a later date whether and in which other series Nico will also drive for Porsche.”
