Netflix to host a golf tournament featuring F1 drivers in Las Vegas

Netflix is set to livestream the inaugural golf tournament “Netflix Cup” featuring a number of Formula 1 stars as competitors and is scheduled to take place ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend.

Streaming giant Netflix has been successful in persuading celebrities from the golf and Formula 1 worlds to join forces for a live golf tournament as the city of lights gears up to host its inaugural Grand Prix.

The Netflix Cup will bring together popular sport personalities from the streaming service’s previous shows as both sports boast millions of fans globally. Stars will compete in a golf event in Las Vegas, following the success of hit docuseries that include “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” and “Full Swing.”

The eight-hole golf tournament which will be held at the Wynn Golf Club will feature Formula 1 drivers such as Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, and Lando Norris who will all pair up with a professional golfer.

The competition will be based on four pairs, each featuring a Formula 1 driver and a PGA TOUR professional.

The two leading teams will then proceed to the tournament’s final hole to play against each other in a contest for the overall victory.

The concept of bringing together both of the completely different sports initially came about as a way to celebrate the launch of the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix. drivers will compete on a makeshift street circuit on the Las Vegas Strip. The race event is scheduled to kick off on November 18.

“The continued success of Drive to Survive has played a significant role in the growth of Formula 1 in the US, which has ultimately led to the addition of a third American race,” said Emily Prazer, chief commercial officer of Las Vegas Grand Prix Inc.

“It’s only fitting that we kick off our inaugural race weekend with a fun event that can be streamed by F1 and PGA TOUR fans around the globe.”

The Netflix Cup, which will be streamed live on November 14 at 11pm GMT/3pm PT/6pm ET, will officially begin what is going to be a spectacular week.

A star-studded cast of athletes from each sports can be found on the complete participation list. F1 drivers Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly, Lando Norris, and Carlos Sainz, as well as PGA Tour players Rickie Fowler, Max Homa, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Thomas, have all agreed to participate in the event.
