MotoGP Jerez Sprint Race: Marc Marquez claims victory as Fabio Quartararo crashes

Full 2025 MotoGP Jerez Sprint Race Results – Marc Marquez claimed his fifth straight sprint victory in a Ducati 1-6 sweep as Fabio Quartararo crashed out contention early.

With the stands filled by 100,000 passionate fans, the tension at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto was palpable as the riders lined up for the 12-lap dash each seeking to make their mark on Spanish soil.

The 2025 MotoGP Jerez Sprint race would ultimately be remembered for Marc Marquez’s masterful victory, Fabio Quartararo’s heartbreak and Ducati’s unprecedented dominance as their machines swept the top six positions.

As the lights went out polesitter Quartararo made a strong start on his Monster Energy Yamaha YZR-M1 but Marquez got an even better launch on his Lenovo Ducati Desmosedici GP25 and surged ahead into Turn 1.

Undeterred Quartararo fought back with a daring move on the brakes, reclaiming the lead and thrilling his supporters with his determination and racecraft. The opening lap saw Quartararo leading with Marquez glued to his rear wheel, relentless in his pursuit.

Meanwhile Gresini’s Alex Marquez slotted into third having made a clean start from fourth on the grid. Francesco Bagnaia was in fourth busy fending off Franco Morbidelli who rounded out the top five in the early running.

The race’s pivotal moment came on the second lap as the field approached the Dani Pedrosa corner at Turn 6 when Marquez executed a textbook slipstream maneuver drawing alongside Quartararo on the inside.

Quartararo desperate to defend his position braked late and attempted to hold his line on the outside but the front end of his Yamaha washed out on the dirty section of the track.

In an instant, Quartararo’s race was over, his hopes dashed as he slid into the gravel. The crash was a cruel blow for the Frenchman who had shown such promise throughout the weekend but it was a testament to the unforgiving nature of MotoGP at the very limit.

With Quartararo out Marc Marquez inherited the lead and the Spanish crowd erupted in support of their home hero. Alex Marquez moved up to second while Bagnaia advanced to third; Morbidelli and rookie sensation Fermin Aldeguer filled out the top five.

From that point on race leader Marquez was in complete control. He steadily increased his advantage over his younger brother, managing the gap with the precision and composure that have become his trademarks.

By the fifth lap, the elder Marquez’s lead had grown to a second and he continued to push only easing off in the final laps to ensure a safe passage to the chequered flag, winning the 2025 MotoGP Jerez Sprint race.

Behind the Marquez brothers, Bagnaia maintained a solid third position. The Italian was unable to mount a challenge for second but kept a comfortable buffer over Morbidelli who was a second adrift in fourth.

Aldeguer, racing in front of his home fans, delivered another impressive performance to secure fifth place, confirming his status as one of the season’s standout rookies.

The battle for sixth was fierce with VR46 Ducati’s Fabio Di Giannantonio ultimately holding off Maverick Viñales who was the first non-Ducati rider across the line in seventh on the Red Bull KTM Tech3 RC16.

Further down the order Marco Bezzecchi finished eighth on the Aprilia Racing RS-GP25 ahead of 2020 World Champion Joan Mir who scored valuable points for Honda HRC Castrol in ninth.

Pedro Acosta rounded out the top ten for KTM, struggling with grip issues that hampered his progress throughout the sprint. His teammate Brad Binder could manage only 11th, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the Austrian manufacturer at Jerez.

The final classification of the sprint race underscored Ducati’s overwhelming strength with their machines occupying the top six positions: Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez, Bagnaia, Morbidelli, Aldeguer, and Di Giannantonio.

This level of dominance was a clear statement of intent from the Italian marque whose technical prowess and rider lineup have set the benchmark for the rest of the field in 2025.
