McLaren MCL60 makes track debut

The McLaren MCL60 is the most recent car to be given a test-drive.

The Woking-based outfit debuted their new McLaren MCL60 during a launch event last Monday, February 13, at their Technical Centre. The name of the car alludes to the 60th-anniversary celebrations that will take place throughout the year.

McLaren is currently in Bahrain for a shakedown and filming day with its brand-new MCL60 challenger. The team landed at Sakhir a few days early to give their newest contender a first track run out before F1 pre-season testing got underway at the Bahrain International Circuit on Thursday.

Lando Norris is now joined by rookie Oscar Piastri who replaced Daniel Ricciardo after his contract was terminated following a challenging two years with the team.

Lando Norris can be seen driving the MCL60 out of McLaren’s garage in a brief video that the team posted on social media.

McLaren wants to reclaim fourth place in the constructors’ championship from Alpine this year after falling to fifth. Alpine are their midfield opponents.

Haas, who are also using the Bahrain circuit jointly with McLaren, used one of their filming days to give their VF-23 another outing after a shakedown run at Silverstone.

The official F1 preseason test will be held between February 23 and 25 just one week prior to the first race of the season in Bahrain.
