“No mate, don’t give me that s***,” Verstappen fumed. “You guys gave me this s* strategy, okay? I’m trying to rescue what’s left. F*!”
The situation escalated further during the latter stages of the race when Verstappen found himself battling with Lewis Hamilton. As they approached the final laps, tensions were high, and the two drivers were locked in a fierce duel for position.
In a dramatic move, Verstappen attempted to get past Hamilton but locked up and the two made contact, resulting in Verstappen’s car briefly going airborne. This incident only fueled the Dutchman’s anger, and he was heard on the radio saying, “We’re going to race like this from now on!”
Verstappen suggested to Lambiase over the team radio that the incident was Hamilton’s fault, a point of view that Lambiase did not entertain in the slightest.
“I’m not even going to get into a radio argument with the other teams over this, Max. We’ll let the stewards do their thing. It’s childish on the radio Max, childish,” the engineer told Red Bull’s star driver.
