Liam Lawson and his longtime girlfriend Charlotte Miller have been labelled as ‘Barbie and Ken’ following a beach Instagram post by the racing driver.
Red Bull reserve driver Liam Lawson gushed over his longtime girlfriend Charlotte Miller following a date on the California beach, inspiring fans to label them “Barbie and Ken.”
According to reports, the couple has been together since 2019, which precedes Lawson’s ascent to the highest levels of motorsport racing.
Lawson, who is becoming more widely recognized, usually stays off social media when it comes to his personal life, and he and Miller seem to value keeping some privacy in their relationship.
Following a successful Formula 1 season in which Lawson gained recognition for his outstanding performance with AlphaTauri as a replacement for the injured Daniel Ricciardo, the couple retreated to the beach to unwind.
Lawson paid tribute to his partner and made a light joke that New Zealand had “better beaches than Cali” after sharing several pictures of himself and Miller on a California beach on social media.
“NZ may have better beaches than Cali but any beach with you is by far the best,” Lawson captioned a series of photos of him and his partner on Instagram.
A number of fans were quick to leave comments as they complimented the couple with one referring to them as the classic dolls for kids ‘Barbie and Ken’.
“The original Barbie and Ken,” the fan gushed.
Although it doesn’t seem to have been the case, some fans assumed Lawson and Miller had gotten engaged because of the somewhat staged photos.
“That first picture had me thinking this was an engagement post,” one wrote.
“Love an engagement shoot,” joked another.
Although Lawson focused on racing in the Super Formula series in Japan this year, finishing as Champion runners up, the Kiwi received an offer to an F1 seat for five races in the middle of the season to replace Daniel Ricciardo, who was sidelined due to a hand injury.
During the Dutch Grand Prix’s Free Practice 3, Lawson hopped into AlphaTauri’s AT04 and remained in the driver’s seat until the end of the Qatar Grand Prix.
Lawson, who had never driven an F1 car before, advanced to Q3 at the Singapore Grand Prix after he was incredibly quickly, something that neither Max Verstappen nor Sergio Perez were able to accomplish.
He proceeded to finish ninth at the Marina Bay Circuit marking his best result of the five races he had entered.
Given how well the 21-year-old performed, most people anticipated that he would be offered a full-time slot at AlphaTauri for 2024. However, he will continue to serve as the Austrian team’s reserve driver.
It seems likely that he will be given a seat in 2025 at last, even though some speculate if he could come back in mid-2024 if Perez gets axed by Red Bull.
