LCR Honda unveils 2022 MotoGP livery

LCR Honda has officially unveiled their 2022 MotoGP bikeS for Alex Marquez and Takaaki Nakagami ahead of the Mandalika final pre-season test.

In an online launch on Wednesday morning, LCR Honda revealed the liveries that Takaaki Nakagami and Alex Marquez will wear throughout the 2022 MotoGP season.

Following the factory Honda team’s unveiling of its ’22 livery on Tuesday, LCR, the Japanese manufacturer’s main satellite team, unveiled substantially identical paint schemes for its Marquez and Nakagami.

Marquez will keep Castrol as his title sponsor for his side of the garage, but his RC213-V will also be heavily backed by motorcycle apparel accessories firm Givi, with his livery retaining Castrol’s green, red, and white corporate colors with a splash of blue to finish.

Nakagami, on the other hand, will continue to race under the Team Idemitsu brand, which has backed the two-time Moto2 race winner since his transition to MotoGP with LCR in 2018.

His livery has remained largely unchanged since 2021, with Idemitsu’s red and white colors covering his Honda, however a significant patch of black coats the front of the fairing behind his typical #30, as well as slightly larger gold flashes.

Marquez is aiming to return to the top of the podium after a difficult 2021 season, his first with LCR after being booted from the factory Honda team following an up-and-down rookie season in ’20.

On his route to a disappointing 16th in the riders’ standings, one position behind teammate Nakagami, he managed to finish fourth in the last race of the year in Portugal, his sole top-five finish of the season.

After coming close on multiple occasions in the previous two seasons, the Japanese rider enters 2022 determined to win his first premier class rostrum, with Honda’s all-new RC213-V poised to offer him his best opportunity yet.

Last year, he finished fourth in the Jerez Grand Prix and then finished fifth in the Styrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring to finish just six points ahead of Marquez overall.
