Juan Pablo Montoya returns to Arrow McLaren SP

Juan Pablo Montoya will be driving for McLaren again in the Indianapolis 500 series that will start in May.

The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya will partner with Arrow McLaren SP for his seventh attempt at qualifying in May.

Montoya drove for McLaren in Formula 1 in 2005 and 2006, however, his stint with the team came to an end following the United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis. However, with the 2021 Indy 500 Montoya rekindled the relationship with McLaren.

Montoya will return to McLaren in 2022, driving the No.6 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet beside full-time drivers Felix Rosenqvist and Patricio O’Ward.

“I’m excited to return to Indianapolis with Arrow McLaren SP and Mission, to once again compete in a race that holds a special place in my heart – the Indianapolis 500,” Montoya said of the McLaren announcement.

“I had a great experience with the team last year and look forward to building on the progress we made in 2021.”

“I think we have a real shot at competing at the front of the field and challenging for the win.”

The Colombian finished ninth in 2021, after winning the race as a rookie in 2000 and again in 2015. O’Ward finished fourth, the highest-placed McLaren driver, with Rosenqvist 27th and a lap down.
