JR Motorsports has announced their crew chief lineup, which features two new members ahead of the 2024 Xfinity Series season.
JR Motorsports officially announced the crew chief lineup for the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series on Monday morning as two new names appearing on the roster for the upcoming season.
Adam Wall will be the No. 8 team leader as Sammy Smith begins his first campaign with JR Motorsports. Brandon Jones and the No. 9 team will have Phillip Bell take over as crew chief. He takes Jason Burdett’s seat following his move to Legacy Motor Club.
Mardy Lindley reunites with Sam Mayer and the No. 1 team after four victories in the previous season. Jim Pohlman, who had four victories the previous season, comes back to Justin Allgaier and the No. 7 team. Both Mayer and Allgaier advanced to the Championship 4.
Wall served at JR Motorsports as an engineer from 2016 until the conclusion of the 2018 campaign. He teamed with Elliott Sadler and celebrated three victories and coming in second twice in the championship standings.
Wall replaced Kevin Meendering as crew chief at Hendrick Motorsports in 2018. He worked with Jimmie Johnson before joining Kyle Larson’s squad and taking home a Cup.
“It’s a lot of the same people here at JR Motorsports, so I’m excited to hit the ground running,” Wall said.
“It’s a really efficient process that they have going with HMS and JRM in terms of personnel, and I’m an example of how it works.
“To be able to come back to JRM on the crew chief level is a really nice path.”
In the 2022 Xfinity season, Bell—who joined JR Motorsports in 2016—led Noah Gragson and the No. 9 squad as their engineer. He finished the season second in the championship standings and celebrated eight victories alongside Gragson.
“I’m very appreciative of the opportunity,” said Bell. “I couldn’t have asked for a better place to be, because I know the systems and the people.
“It feels like coming home. The 9 team means a lot to me. We spent a lot of time and effort and helping build that legacy, getting the right systems in place to win races, and it means a lot to me to be here with them.”
JRM’s Director of Competition Mike Bumgarner said in a statement: “I feel very confident in our group of crew chiefs for 2024. Both Adam and Phillip have previous experience here with our guys and that chemistry alone makes the flow of communication even better.
“The process speaks volumes to what (Dale Earnhardt Jr.) and (Kelley Earnhardt Miller) have been able to do here.”
