Jorge Martin recently underwent surgery to address a physical issue he had been having, taking advantage of the MotoGP summer break for recovery.
Jorge Martin decided to have surgery in Madrid on Monday to address a persistent issue with his left leg ahead of the British Grand Prix next month.
The Pramac Ducati rider announced on Monday that he would have surgery on his left leg to address a problem that had been bothering him for some time.
He did not elaborate on the nature of the issue, but he did mention that two years ago, he fractured his left leg in a terrifying crash at Portimao.
Martin is eager to get back to full fitness so he can mount a prolonged title assault over the course of the season’s final 12 races. The Spaniard tweeted a few pictures of him in the hospital with a cast on his leg.
With a strong run of form leading up to the summer break, the two-time MotoGP winner has locked himself in the championship contention.
Martin has never finished lower than fifth in each of the previous five grand prix races, which included a hard-fought victory at the Sachsenring and two sprint victories in Germany and at Le Mans.
In the lead up to the British Grand Prix in a month, he currently ranks second in the overall rider standings, after a less-than-stellar Dutch TT in comparison to series leader Francesco Bagnaia caused him to fall to 35 points behind the Italian at the halfway point of the season.
