Hertz Team JOTA Takes Over Cadillac's factory program for 2025 WEC

Hertz Team JOTA has officially taken over Cadillac Racing’s factory program in the FIA World Endurance Championship starting 2025.

Cadillac Racing announced on Wednesday that it will team up with Hertz Team JOTA to field two V-Series.Rs in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar class.

This partnership marks a pivotal moment for the American automotive giant as it aims to bolster its presence in the WEC, aligning with the series’ new regulations that mandate a two-car entry for manufacturers.

Hertz Team JOTA has a rich history in endurance racing, particularly during the LMP2 category era, where they secured multiple podium finishes and class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The team made its debut in the WEC’s top class in 2023 as a privateer with Porsche 963 cars. They made their first remarkable achievement by clinching victory at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, marking the first privateer Hypercar team to win a WEC race.

“JOTA has always strived to become a manufacturer team, so now joining forces with Cadillac is the realization of this goal,” said JOTA co-owner Sam Hignett.

“Having competed against the Cadillac V-Series.R for the last two seasons, we have experienced how competitive it is and we are genuinely honored to be entrusted with fielding its cars from 2025 onward.

“We are in the privileged position to have enjoyed record-breaking success in the FIA World Endurance Championship, especially at Le Mans, and we are very much looking forward to continuing this success with Cadillac and Hertz.”

Cadillac, on the other hand, parts ways with Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR), which has been its service provider since its made its WEC debut in 2023 running a single car program which went on to secure a remarkable podium at Le Mans. So far this season the the team has claimed top five finishes at Sebring, Portimao, and Spa.

“Cadillac is proud to be racing against the best in the world as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship, and that includes Hertz Team JOTA,” said Global Cadillac’s vice president, John Roth.

“We are thrilled to welcome Hertz Team JOTA next year, bringing decades of racing and technical expertise together, to achieve continued success on the track and create new advocates for our brand around the globe.”

The new Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA will maintain its current race numbers – No. 12 and No. 38 – for 2025 WEC as it embarks on this exciting new chapter.

While the team is yet to confirm its 2025 lineup, existing factory drivers such as Alex Lynn and Earl Bamber are expected to remain with the team. Additionally, long-time JOTA driver Will Stevens is likely to continue, alongside Jenson Button and Callum Ilott.
