The FIA has officially released the 2025 F1 entry list, featuring a number of changes including a new team name and driver numbers for the upcoming season.
Among the most notable updates is the rebranding of Red Bull Racing’s sister team, which will now be known as Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, a move that aims to clarify its identity and distance itself from confusion with its parent team.
This change comes after years of operating under the name “RB,” which many fans and commentators often misinterpreted. Team CEO Peter Bayer emphasized the need for a clearer identity, stating: “People were struggling with the RB thing alone… so that’s why we decided to clarify that and basically what you will see in the future is Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, and VCARB as an abbreviation.”
The 2025 F1 entry list also features a fresh influx of talent onto the grid, with several rookies making their debut in 2025. Notably, Gabriel Bortoleto and Jack Doohan will be racing with numbers historically associated with recent world champions.
Bortoleto, who will drive for Sauber, has chosen number 5, previously sported by Sebastian Vettel who retired in 2022. This choice reflects his successful tenure in Formula 3, where he captured the championship while racing under that number.
Doohan, representing Alpine, has opted for number 7, last used by Kimi Raikkonen in 2021. Doohan expressed his desire to select a number that holds personal significance, having raced with number 7 earlier in his career.
The 2025 F1 entry list also confirms the presence of established stars alongside the newcomers. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez are listed as Red Bull drivers, although Perez’s future remains uncertain following a lackluster performance in the 2024 season.
Despite being included on the provisional list, speculation about Perez’s potential replacement continues to swirl, with Racing Bulls’ drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson tipped for promotion to the senior team.

In addition to these developments, several other driver transfers have been confirmed on the 2025 F1 entry list. Lewis Hamilton will be joining Ferrari, while Carlos Sainz makes a move to Williams.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli is set to debut with Mercedes, taking over number 12—last used by Felipe Nasr in 2016—while Haas welcomes Oliver Bearman who will race with number 87.
The FIA’s 2025 F1 entry list serves as a preliminary framework for what fans can expect next year but remains subject to change as teams finalize their rosters ahead of the season opener in Australia.
The uncertainty surrounding driver lineups adds an element of intrigue as teams assess their options and strategize for success in an increasingly competitive environment.
