Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car name has been officially unveiled and it is set to be called the SF-25.
This announcement marks an exciting development for both the Scuderia and its new driver, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who will be making his debut in the new car after joining the iconic Italian team.
Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car – the SF-25 – continues a naming tradition that the team has been following for several years, with the previous models being named the SF-23 and SF-24.
The name was revealed through Ferrari’s social media channels, generating significant buzz among fans and analysts alike. The SF-25 will be showcased in its full livery for the first time during a live launch event on February 18 at London’s O2 Arena, coinciding with Formula 1’s 75th-anniversary celebrations.
Following this event, Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car will be officially launched at their private track in Fiorano on February 19, where Hamilton and his teammate Charles Leclerc will conduct a shakedown of the new car.
The team has been busy with testing sessions at various tracks as they gear up for the new season. Recently, both Hamilton and Leclerc have been acquainting themselves with older models at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
However, their testing was interrupted when Hamilton suffered a minor crash while driving the SF-23. Fortunately, he emerged unscathed from the incident.

The team is also preparing for a tire test with Pirelli next week at the same venue to further refine their setups ahead of pre-season testing.
The SF-25 is expected to represent a significant evolution in Ferrari’s engineering strategy. Team principal Frederic Vasseur has indicated that only about one percent of components from the previous year’s SF-24 will carry over to Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car.
This decision underscores Ferrari’s commitment to innovation as they aim to improve performance and competitiveness on the track.
Notably, one of the most significant changes includes a new pull-rod front suspension system that Hamilton is familiar with from his successful stint at Mercedes. This design choice is aimed at improving cornering behavior and overall handling.
In addition to mechanical upgrades, there are speculations regarding a potential redesign of the car’s aerodynamics. Reports suggest that Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car is drawing inspiration from Red Bull’s aerodynamic efficiency to optimize airflow around the vehicle.
The sidepods are rumored to undergo a total redesign to reduce volume while maximizing aerodynamic flow toward the rear of the car. Such innovations are crucial as teams strive to gain every possible advantage in what promises to be a highly competitive season.

The anticipation surrounding Lewis Hamilton’s transition to Ferrari cannot be overstated. His move from Mercedes, where he secured six of his seven world titles, has generated immense interest not only among fans but also within the paddock.
As he embarks on this new chapter in his illustrious career, expectations are high for both him and Ferrari. The team has not won a championship since Kimi Raikkonen’s triumph in 2007, and there is hope that Hamilton’s experience and skill can help break the long-standing drought.
