The traditional Ferrari F1 livery will undergo significant and ‘intense’ transformation as the team prepares for Lewis Hamilton’s debut in 2025 F1.
The revamp is expected to be more than just a cosmetic change; it symbolizes a new era for the Scuderia, particularly with Hamilton, a seven-time World Champion, joining forces with Charles Leclerc.
The excitement surrounding the transition is palpable, as fans and analysts alike speculate on what the new Ferrari F1 livery will entail.
The 2025 F1 season marks a pivotal moment for Ferrari, which narrowly missed out on the Constructors’ Championship to McLaren in 2024. The team aims to capitalize on this momentum by introducing an “intense shade of red” that will distinguish their new car codenamed Project 677.
This decision to adopt a bolder hue reflects Ferrari’s desire not only to maintain its iconic image but also to embrace a fresh identity as they enter this new chapter with Hamilton at the helm.
The Ferrari F1 livery has traditionally been associated with classic bright scarlet red, a colour that has become synonymous with the brand since its inception.
However, according to a report from AutoRacer, the team is exploring variations of this color scheme aiming for something that resonates with both the team’s rich heritage and modern aesthetics.
While the exact details of the livery are yet to be revealed, insiders suggest that it will not replicate the darker shades seen in previous designs – such as the SF1000 at the 2020 Tuscan GP – but will instead strike a balance between tradition and innovation.
It is our understanding that ballast and weight reduction should no longer be significant barriers to innovation and as a result, there should be less “visible carbon” on the 2025 F1 cars – a pattern observed last season.
The FIA has raised the minimum weight for 2025 from 798 kg to 800 kg in this regard. This year, a unique cooling system will also make its debut in addition to the driver cooling kit. This will be used in extremely hot races, where the minimum weight will increase by an additional 5 kg.
The upcoming Ferrari F1 livery reveal is set for February 18 at London’s O2 Arena during the F1 75 Launch event, where all ten teams will showcase their cars for the 2025 F1 season. Following this event, the team will officially present Project 677 in Maranello on February 19.
The double unveiling is expected to generate significant buzz within the motorsport community, particularly given Hamilton’s stature and his recent move from Mercedes to Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton’s debut at Ferrari has been met with enthusiasm and high expectations. Known for his remarkable career achievements and competitive spirit, the British driver brings a wealth of experience that could prove invaluable as the Maranello-based outfit seeks to reclaim its position at the top of Formula 1.
The collaboration between Hamilton and Leclerc is viewed as a formidable partnership, one that could potentially lead Ferrari back to championship glory.
In preparation for the pivotal 2025 F1 season, Ferrari has implemented several strategies to ensure Hamilton’s seamless integration into the team. This includes private testing sessions at their Fiorano circuit and plans for additional testing at Barcelona ahead of the season opener.
These initiatives are designed not only to familiarize Hamilton with the car but also to foster team cohesion as they work together towards common goals.
