Felix Rosenqvist has solidified his future in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES by signing a multi-year contract extension with Meyer Shank Racing, ensuring that he will remain with the team beyond the 2025 season.
This announcement comes after a commendable first year with MSR, where the Swedish driver not only achieved significant milestones for the team but also demonstrated his potential as a strong performer in the highly competitive IndyCar landscape.
Rosenqvist joined Meyer Shank Racing at the beginning of the 2024 season after a three-year stint with Arrow McLaren. His transition to MSR has proven beneficial for both parties, as he delivered the team’s first-ever pole position and secured a podium finish during the INDYCAR $1 Million Challenge event.
Over the course of the season, the Swedish driver amassed six top-ten finishes and eight top-five qualifying performances, culminating in a 12th place finish in the final standings—marking MSR’s best-ever championship result since its inception in 2017.
The announcement of his contract extension underscores the confidence that team owners Mike and Jim Meyer have in Rosenqvist’s abilities as a driver.
The team experienced a notable improvement in their competitive edge, with qualifying results placing them in the top six in 15 events throughout the season. This is a remarkable improvement from previous years, where such results were virtually nonexistent.
“We’ve extended Felix Rosenqvist for a couple more years,” Shank told RACER. “He did everything we asked of him. We, as a team, made a 30 or 40 percent gain in our performance this year.
“Between the two cars, we were in the top six in qualifying, if you include (the non-points) Thermal race, 15 times. Last year it was zero.”
Felix Rosenqvist’s journey in IndyCar has been marked by resilience and adaptability. He began his career in the series with Chip Ganassi Racing, where he was awarded Rookie of the Year honors in 2019 and claimed his first victory at Road America in 2020.
His move to Arrow McLaren allowed him to further hone his skills, but it was at Meyer Shank Racing that he found a renewed sense of purpose and opportunity.
The 32-year old’s ability to perform under pressure was evident from the outset of the 2024 season, where he showcased his talent by qualifying second at St. Petersburg and later clinching pole position at Long Beach.
Despite facing challenges throughout the season, including mechanical issues that hindered his performance at critical moments, Rosenqvist remained optimistic about his prospects with MSR.
“Thrilled to commit my future to Meyer Shank Racing,” Rosenqvist posted on social media. “Let’s create some big moments, next year and beyond!”
The stability provided by this multi-year contract is expected to foster an environment conducive to growth and achievement for both Rosenqvist and Meyer Shank Racing.
As part of this new chapter, the seasoned driver will continue to pilot the No. 60 AutoNation/SiriusXM Honda, a car that has become synonymous with his racing identity.
However, details regarding his teammate for the upcoming seasons remain unclear, as David Malukas is set to leave MSR for AJ Foyt Racing after this year.
