The eighth running of the “100km dei Campioni” dirt track competition will take place this weekend at Valentino Rossi’s MotoRanch in Tavullia.
Two-wheeled athletes from the past and present are invited to join Rossi and the VR46 Academy riders at their renowned training facility for the post-season event.
The event this year will feature an individual ‘Americana’ elimination challenge on Friday, followed by the ‘100km dei Campioni’ main event on Saturday. Danilo Petrucci, a star of MotoGP, MotoAmerica, and the Dakar, is one of the distinguished guests scheduled to attend.
The 100km race pits competitors against one another in pairs, and it starts with riders sprinting to their machines for an endurance-style start. The next 50 laps of the race are completed with a rider change occurring every five laps.
Rossi and his younger brother Luca Marini won the competition last year with a “home” victory.
Franco Morbidelli and Francesco Bagnaia, who won their respective premier-class races at Valencia earlier this month but were unable to compete last year, are expected to race this weekend.
Francesco Bagnaia is the first MotoGP champion from the VR46 Academy.
