Dani Pedrosa has officially extended his contract to continue serving as KTM test rider for the 2025 MotoGP season.
The partnership not only reflects the Spaniard’s enduring legacy in the sport but also underscores the team’s commitment to the development of the KTM RC16 machine and improving their competitive edge in the ever-evolving world of motorcycle racing.
Dani Pedrosa, a celebrated figure in MotoGP history, transitioned to his role as KTM test rider after retiring from full-time racing in 2018. Since joining the Austrian manufacturer in 2019, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the performance and capabilities of the KTM RC16.
Over the past six years, Pedrosa has participated in four wildcard races, showcasing his skills and providing invaluable feedback that has driven the bike’s development.
His most recent appearance was at the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix, where he secured a podium finish in the sprint race, further demonstrating his ability to compete at a high level even after retirement.
The extension of Pedrosa’s contract marks his seventh year with KTM, a testament to the strong relationship built between him and the team. In an official statement following the announcement, the seasoned rider expressed his enthusiasm for continuing this journey.
“It’s a pleasure to take our journey into another year,” he stated. “We know where we need to make improvements, and the effort of the whole factory has not eased at all in making the best bike for the riders to perform on track.
“I’m looking forward to what we can do for 2025 MotoGP and the ideas that will come along.”
KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer echoed Pedrosa’s sentiments, emphasizing that extending their partnership was a straightforward decision based on mutual trust and respect.
“This was a straightforward decision for both parties and that’s a good sign of a strong relationship and trust,” Beirer said. “We really believe in what Dani Pedrosa brings to our MotoGP program on different levels, not only in the saddle of the next generation of the KTM RC16, and this contribution is vital.
“We know the turnaround we are seeking will come and with Dani as part of the team it will only arrive quicker.”
