According to Italian media reports Charles Leclerc is currently being considered by Aston Martin and Red Bull for a possible transfer after his current Ferrari deal expires.
Although speculation about Charles Leclerc perhaps joining Mercedes has recently subsided, other teams are reportedly interested in signing the Monégasque, according to Italian media sources.
After the Formula One 2024 season’s 24-race schedule was revealed, the silly season seems to have begun. Nyck de Vries, an AlphaTauri driver, is the first casualty of the constantly changing driver market. Daniel Ricciardo who is a fan favorite, has taken the place of the Dutch driver for the remainder of 2023 season.
Many 2024 driver announcements remain on the table, but it appears that some teams have begun looking forward to the upcoming season.
Two teams are believed to be bidding for Charles Leclerc as his current Ferrari deal expires, according to the Italian news outlet formu1a.uno. The first of these two teams is Red Bull, and the media outlet has reported on potential discussions between the two sides.
“Talks with the Monegasque [and Red Bull] that took place at the end of May, to understand if there was any possibility that the paths with Ferrari could separate,” formula1a.uno reports.
“Something that Aston Martin has also done [had talks with Leclerc], in search of a top driver for after [Fernando] Alonso [leaves].
“That is how Frederick Vasseur has put the renewal of the Monegasque at the top of his agenda for a few weeks, leaving that of Carlos Sainz on standby for now, who at least unofficially does not seem to have taken it very well.”
The current Red Bull deal for Max Verstappen is valid till the conclusion of 2028. Consequently, Perez would probably leave if the reigning constructors’ world champions decided to make a change. Red Bull’s team principal, Christian Horner, has reaffirmed the organization’s loyalty to the Mexican driver despite his recent dismal performance.
However as de Vries’ recent ouster indicates, the driver market may shift considerably. Additionally, McLaren driver Lando Norris has consistently received praise from Red Bull Advisor Helmut Marko. Even more recently, Marko was observed conversing with the British driver’s agent.
