Alain Prost who was Alpine’s former non-executive director has confirmed he has left the company, but he is dissatisfied with how the news has been released.
Reports from the Formula1.com website stated that Alpine had cut ties with Alain Prost after choosing not to renew his annual contract being the non-executive director and advisor with the French team.
Prost responded Monday night on social media by claiming that he had turned down an offer from Alpine at last month’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“I am very disappointed how this news has been announced today,” Prost wrote on Instagram.
“It was agreed that we would announce together with @alpinef1team! No respect sorry!”
“I have refused the offer made to me in Abu Dhabi for the 2022 season because of a personal relationship and I was right!”
“To the Enstone and Viry team, I will miss you,” Prost concluded.
Prost’s exit follows the departure of Alpine executive director Marcin Budkowski late last week week.
The moves have left a gap at the team, which is expected to be filled soon by former Aston Martin F1 CEO Otmar Szafnauer. Alpine and former Racing Point/Aston Martin sponsor BWT are set to sign a sponsorship contract to accompany the American’s projected relocation to Enstone.
