Reigning Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen has unveiled a one-of-a-kind helmet design that he will wear at this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.
The Red Bull driver will wear a brand new helmet design with “a little Miami vice taste” to commemorate the debut race in Miami.
Verstappen’s new design combines navy and light blue colours, as well as pink embellishments, and departs from his customary, mostly white helmet.
In a video posted on Red Bull’s social media accounts on Tuesday, Verstappen revealed his unique helmet.
“A special one, for a special weekend – as you can see, it’s for Miami,” said Verstappen. “It’s the first time we go there so I’m really excited to be there and I thought why not add a bit of Miami vice flavour to it.”
“I really like this one, I think it is one of my favourite ones [helmet designs]. I’m definitely looking forward to using this one.”
Verstappen heads to Miami with a 27-point margin behind championship leader Charles Leclerc.
Last time out in Imola, the Dutchman took the win, while Ferrari’s Leclerc made his first major error of the season by spinning out of a certain third place in the final stages.
Leclerc eventually finished sixth, but his 46-point lead over Verstappen was halved in a single weekend.
