Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton appears to have reacted to speculations over his F1 future with a resolute social media post.
Lewis Hamilton has responded to remarks and queries about his F1 future on social media with a post that appears to be a response to them.
Hamilton and Mercedes had a particularly difficult weekend at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, with both cars failing to qualify in Q2 and the seven-time World Champion failing to score in either the Sprint or the main race.
Ex-F1 driver Johnny Herbert slammed Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko’s suggestion that Hamilton might be thinking “he should have stopped last year” as a “cheap shot.”
Hamilton took to social media on Wednesday night with a strategic message, albeit he made no mention of any specific comments.
“Working on my masterpiece. I’ll be the one to decide when it’s finished,” Hamilton wrote on Instagram.
Hamilton’s Mercedes team responded with a crown emoji, in addition to a torrent of supportive remarks from supporters. The champ dismissed “silly” and “nonsense” suggestions about his future at Mercedes earlier in the Imola weekend.
The 36-year old looked to be responding to Mika Hakkinen’s comment that he may be considering a move away from Mercedes due to the team’s troubles, and that he is likely to be “sulking” behind the scenes.
Hamilton used the opportunity to state that he is “100% committed” to Mercedes and that “there is nowhere else I want to be.”
