Las Vegas to hold inaugural F1 race on 2023 Thanksgiving

Front Office Sports said Thursday that Las Vegas will host its first Formula 1 race on Thanksgiving in 2023.

For months, F1 has been in talks with Las Vegas and Nevada officials about staging an annual event in and around the Las Vegas Strip. In the coming weeks, the race will be formally revealed.

It will be the third race on the F1 calendar held in the United States. Since 2012, a race has been held in Austin, Texas, and a new race will be held in Miami this May.

According to the article, F1 management have expressed interest in New York as a fourth American location. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali told Sky Sports that the circuit might be interested in bringing a race to Africa, which is currently the only continent without a Formula One race.

The sport has grown in popularity in the United States, thanks in part to the Netflix docuseries “Formula 1: Drive to Survive,” which was developed in conjunction with F1.

Between 1981 and 1984, the Caesars Palace Grand Prix was held in Las Vegas, for which a temporary circuit was erected in the parking lot of the Caesars Palace hotel.
