Alain Prost leaves Alpine advisory role

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Alain Prost has left Alpine after management chose not to renew his contract through 2022.

Alpine’s latest management restructure has caused another fatality, as Alain Prost has decided to retire after 7 seasons as a consultant and ambassador for the team.

A key figure in Renault’s comeback in Formula One, Prost took on an expanded role at Alpine in 2019 after replacing Thierry Bollore as its non-executive director. Despite this, Alpine’s management decided that Prost’s contract wouldn’t be renewed for the 2022 season.

The news comes after the departure of Marcin Budkowski, who was Alpine’s Executive Director and is set to be replaced by former Aston Martin boss Otmar Szafnauer.

The team also announced Kappa and K-Way as their new partners for 2022 on Monday.
