Last month, Aston Martin Head Lawrence Stroll contacted the former chairman of Ford Europe, Steven Armstrong twice, according to Bloomberg.
Steven Armstrong, a senior Ford Motor executive, has been approached by Aston Martin Chairman Lawrence Stroll for the role of CEO, according to reports. According to one of the persons who asked not to be identified because the negotiations were tentative, Stroll reached out to Armstrong, a former chairman of Ford Europe, twice on December.
Armstrong, 57, has received no offers and has not decided to leave Ford where he has serving for more than 25 years and is currently the transformation officer for South America and India.
Stroll’s outreach raises more doubts about the current Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers, who was the former director of Mercedes-AMG performance division. Stroll appointed him months after leading an investment team to save the team in early 2020.
In an interview with the Financial Times on Friday, Stroll, 62, denied being involved with the search for Moers’ replacement, saying it was “absolutely not true” and he was not actively seeking to replace him.
According to an Aston official, Stroll has denied additional interviews on the subject and has no more comment. Armstrong was unavailable for comment.
