Toprak Razgatlioglu maintained his impeccable form to top FP2 at WorldSBK Donington, edging Danilo Petrucci who missed the benchmark by just 0.2s.
Toprak Razgatlioglu continued to dominate at Donington Park, and was once again the fastest rider on track in the second WorldSBK free practice session on British soil, coming close to breaking the circuit’s fastest lap record.
The ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team rider delivered his best lap in 1:26.013s, a 0.222s gap over second-placed Danilo Petrucci on the Barni Spark Ducati, while Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Nicolo Bulega was third fastest.
Alex Lowes, on the seemingly less edgy Kawasaki, was fourth-fastest and within 0.1 seconds of the two Ducatis ahead of him, and just ahead of Scott Redding in fifth. However, Garrett Gerloff was unable to improve his time in the second session and finished 15th.
Meanwhile, reigning WorldSBK champion Alvaro Bautista ended up sixth after crashing early in the session at turn one, while Andrea Locatelli was the best Yamaha in seventh.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi had a positive Friday, finishing eighth. Andrea Iannone, on the other hand, had a tough day with several crashes. Axel Bassani made good progress between the two sessions, finishing tenth.
Meanwhile Jonathan Rea had electronic problems in the first session and finished 12th as Honda struggled at Donington, with Tarran Mackenzie the best rider of the brand in 19th place.
