The factory KTM team revealed their 2024 MotoGP challenger following the Sepang pre-season test.
This week’s three-day pre-season test in Malaysia saw the official debut of the revised KTM RC16 from the Austrian manufacturer, which Brad Binder and Jack Miller were instrumental in launching.
KTM recently unveiled their 2024 livery on the heels of a season in which they hope to improve on their 2023 results of fourth in the Riders Championship, second in the Constructors standings, and fourth in the Teams rankings.
Brad Binder, Jack Miller, the entire Red Bull KTM Factory Racing squad, the testing crew, and the engineering operation back in Mattighofen are all set for another incredible campaign.
The factory KTM RC16, which will continue to be sponsored by Red Bull, will continue to be run by the same rider combination of Binder and Miller in 2024 and will continue to be adorned in its signature orange and dark blue colour.
Brad Binder will be marking his fifth year racing aboard the KTM RC16 and his tenth year with Red Bull KTM across all classes. In 2023, the South African secured eight podium finishes, two wins (in the Czech Republic and Austria), and two sprint victories (in Argentina and Spain).
“The trajectory is on its way up. 11th, 6th, 6th and 4th so, yeah, I have no doubt we are going to do better than 4th,” he said.
“Last season was great at times and difficult at other moments. I felt like we had more in the pocket. We were much more competitive each weekend and always around the podium battle.
“This season is where we can make the difference. It’s awesome to be starting 2024 for real.”
Meanwhile, Jack Miller will be marking his eleventh season and his third Grand Prix running in Red Bull KTM colours. The Australian has three career victories and finished on the podium in his first-ever KTM race in 2023.
“2023 was a year of learning and of growth for me as a person and as a rider,” Miller said. “Towards the back half of the season we really got comfortable with the bike and were able to start challenging for positions where we needed to be.
“In KTM, and my dealings especially in the racing department, when they find something or find a pathway – new ideas, better ideas and strategies – then they go all -in on to have them on the track as soon as possible.
“Having that power and that motivation and that backing from the company is awesome as a rider. I didn’t get to achieve all the wishes I wanted in 2023. I have a whole new list of wishes for 2024.”
Since 2017, KTM has won two sprint races and seven Grand Prix races with two different riders. The factory is well represented in Grand Prix across all categories, with Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, Moto3, and Moto2 making up the top of the ladder MotoGP squad.
The Grand Prix of Qatar will mark the opening round of the season held from March 8–10 at the Lusail International Circuit.
