The Gresini team has revealed its 2024 MotoGP livery that Marc Marquez will race with as he marks his first year with Ducati after switching from Honda.
Gresini Ducati marked the first MotoGP team to reveal its 2024 livery on Saturday night as brothers Marc and Alex Marquez were present to showcase their new bikes.
Gresini delivered a special launch event that took place at a nightclub in Riccione, Italy, where the team unveiled its 2024 livery to the public. The 2024 machine had a similar appearance to the previous season with the return of the light Gresini blue and red color scheme.
The white and red numbers that Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Gianantonio sported in the previous season have been replaced with a slightly different colour scheme on the front of the Desmosedici’s. Marc’s famous #93 is coloured red while Alex changes to a black number branding for his second stint with the team.
Strangely enough, there aren’t many more sponsor logos this season despite the signing of six-time premier class world champion Marc Marquez from Honda. Both financial service provider AUSGlobal and the Italian welding company Daiko are now featured on the back of the bike after recently joining the team as sponsors.
Marquez struggled for the better part of the 2023 season as a result of Honda’s decline in performance, before deciding to leave HRC a year early to join Gresini Ducati.
His first test with Ducati in Valencia last November attracted a lot of interest as he went on to finish in fourth place overall, 0.171 seconds behind the fastest time. However, he had been banned from speaking to the media after the test as a result of an unresolved contract issue.
After that, he would have surgery to fix an arm pump problem that had been bothering him during the second half of the season.
Marquez was allowed to talk about his move from Honda to Ducati in the open starting January. Speaking with DAZN earlier this month, Marquez said that during the first test he adapted to the Ducati more quickly than he had anticipated.
Meanwhile, Alex Marquez will be hoping to improve on a strong first season with Gresini after also defecting from Honda in 2022. The 2019 Moto2 world champion finished eighth in the riders’ standings after taking home two sprint victories and two Grand Prix rostrums.
Fabio Di Giannantonio gave Gresini its first grand prix victory in 2023 after he triumphed in Qatar. At the time, Giannantonio faced an uncertain future as Marc Marquez had taken over as his replacement for 2024.
This season, Di Giannantonio will race for VR46 Ducati, taking Luca Marini’s seat after the Italian was shortlisted by Honda to replace Marquez.
