Tom Van Rompuy, Rui Andrade and Charlie Eastwood will compete in TF Sport’s brand-new #83 Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the LMGT3 category for 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Born in 1988 in Antwerpen, Belgium, Tom Van Rompuy has a wealth of experience in endurance racing. In 2022, he took part in the Ligier European Series and the LMP3 class in the European Le Mans Series.
In 2023, he moved up to the LMP2 Pro/Am class for the ELMS season and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“I am very happy and excited to join TF Sport for the upcoming World Endurance Championship,” Tom Van Rompuy said. “I can’t wait to drive my first kilometres in the brand new Corvette, this car looks really amazing.
“The aim is to fight for podiums and I am convinced that we have a really strong package to fight for good results. I am looking forward to work with this highly professional team”
Rui Andrade, who recently became the FIA WEC LMP2 class champion, will provide the team with speed and skills. The Angolan, who was born in Luanda in 1999, began his career in Formula Racing before switching to endurance racing.
He entered the Asian Le Mans Series in 2021 and went on to drive LMP2 cars in the European Le Mans Series, IMSA and finally the FIA WEC.
“I am very happy to be back racing in the World Endurance Championship again and to take on this new challenge!” Rui Andrade said.
“It will be my first time racing in GTs, but I couldn’t ask for better people around me to guide me on this journey.
“TF Sport is an experienced team with many titles and wins in multiple classes, so I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together!”
Andrade will compete in the 2024 season as a Silver rated driver after successfully challenging the FIA’s decision to reclassify him from Silver to Gold.
Charlie Eastwood, who is one of Corvette Racing’s two professional drivers for the upcoming FIA WEC campaign, will be slotted alongside Van Rompuy and Andrade.
The Northern Irishman was instrumental in creating the history of the team, winning the LMGTE AM class in the 2020 Le Mans 24 Hours and the LMP2 Pro/Am class championship in the 2022 European Le Mans Series.
Charlie is primed to take the wheel alongside his teammates in the formidable new Corvette Z06 GT3.R for what promises to be an exciting 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship season. He raced for the team in the LMGTE AM class in the 2023 FIA WEC and lined up in the Oreca 07 Gibson #90 in the Asian Le Mans Series 2023/2024.
“I am very happy to be back on the World Endurance Championship grid,” Charlie Eastwood said. “2024 is a special year to be part of the series, with the introduction of the new GT3 class along with so many Hypercars.
“I can’t wait to start my new journey with the Corvette and I am happy to have the fantastic TF Sport team next to me, who have been so successful in the championship. By sharing the car with Tom and Rui I think we have all the tools for a really strong season.”
