The Andretti Formula E team confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that Formula E World Champion Jake Dennis has signed a multi-year contract extension.
Current Formula E champion Jake Dennis has signed a new contract with the Andretti Global team that will last a number of years, extending his stay in the all-electric championship past 2025.
Dennis, whose previous contract was set to expire at the end of 2024, was officially confirmed as having signed with Andretti on Wednesday after winning his first Formula E title back in July.
The 28-year-old, who has raced for three seasons with Andretti finished with eleven podiums in the 2022–2023 season, including victories in Rome and the season-opening Mexico City E-Prix.
After two victories in his debut season in Formula E, he finished third in the standings with the team which was the BMW works entry in 2020–2021 and added another victory in London that saw him finish sixth overall the 2021-2022 season.
Dennis has progressed remarkably each season he has taken part in the all-electric series in addition to his Formula 1 simulator work for Red Bull. The Formula 1 team recently presented him with a reward for his efforts after he made his F1 debut during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix FP1.
Dennis may have more F1 opportunities in the years to come if he remains with Andretti in Formula E, as the team is pushing for a spot in the Formula 1 championship and its application has been approved by the FIA and is currently in the hands of FOM.
He is extremely driven to stay with Andretti for years to come, as he plans to progress his racing career in Formula E.
“I began my Formula E journey with Andretti, and I’m excited to continue working with the team that has supported my career in this series,” Dennis said. “I’ve got immense respect for this team, and it will be an honor to continue as a driver for Andretti Global.
“The Gen3 era is an exciting time for us with the relationship with Porsche supplying the powertrain, which I won the Championship Title with last season.
“I’m super motivated for next year and feel certain that with the dedication, teamwork and investment I’ve seen over the past three years in the team that we’ll be able to fight for more wins and success in the future.”
For Andretti Global CEO and Chairman Michael Andretti, getting Dennis to sign a contract extension was crucial and is certain that having the current World Champion in the team moving forward basically boosts the team’s reputation on the international stage.
Andretti is optimistic that Dennis and the team can continue to set records after an incredible 2023 season, now that an extension has been signed.
“Jake has played a pivotal role in our Formula E team’s recent success,” Michael Andretti, CEO and chairman of Andretti Global said.
“Securing Jake’s commitment underlines our shared vision for consistently competing for victories and championships, and we are confident that this extension will further strengthen our position on the global stage.
“We look forward to breaking more records and achieving new milestones together in the seasons ahead.”
Andretti Team Principal Roger Griffiths also affirmed that Dennis is an ‘integral part’ of the outfit.
“We are super excited to be able to announce the multi-year extension of Jake’s contract,” said Griffiths.
“Jake has been an integral part of the Andretti Formula E team for three seasons now and has proven time after time that he is one of the most competitive and talented drivers on the Formula E grid.
“His dedication, commitment and focus has been one of the key components contributing to the ongoing success of our Formula E program and we are all excited for what’s to come in the seasons ahead.”
