Lance Stroll has prompted an investigation from the F1 stewards even before the US Grand Prix has started.
After the F1 US Grand Prix, Lance Stroll will be investigated after making a peculiar error on his recon lap before race start.
The Aston Martin F1 team decided to violate the parc ferme rules and make adjustments to their cars as a result of poor performance during the weekend. As a result, Stroll is one of four drivers scheduled to start the US Grand Prix from the pitlane.
However, as a result of a pre-race infraction, Stroll has managed to land himself in an FIA investigation before the Circuit of the Americas race has even begun.
It seems Stroll had forgotten that he was supposed to be starting the US Grand Prix race from the pitlane as he proceeded out onto the track as soon as the pitlane opened.
After finishing his reconnaissance lap, Stroll turned around to head back to the grid, but as he got closer to the back of everyone else, he realized his mistake and halted his car.
“Box, Lance, box, box,” Stroll was told over the radio.
“Ah, damn, I’m on the grid” Stroll replied, having seemingly forgotten that he was starting from the pit lane.
The stewards have already taken note of the incident, despite Aston Martin’s action to make an opening in the pitwall and bring the AMR23 back to the pits.
Minutes before the start of the race, Race Control sent out a message to confirm that Stroll’s failure to get into the pit lane as anticipated would be investigated after the race.
