Williams has announced that its drivers have been cleared to race after Qatar’s brutal conditions forced Logan Sargeant to retire while Alex Albon sought medical assistance.
Williams has assured that both of its drivers, Logan Sargeant and Alex Albon, have been cleared by the medical team following health issues at the Qatar Grand Prix.
The drivers generally suffered the burden of the demanding, humid night race at the Lusail International Circuit, despite the fact that tyre management was a major concern during the course of the race weekend due to the challenging track conditions in Qatar.
Logan Sargeant felt so terrible that he had to stop racing at the most critical point in the race. He had initially resisted retiring the car, but as he made his way back to the Williams garage, he finally gave in to the crippling effects of his physical condition.
As Sargeant slowly left the Williams cockpit, it was clear he wasn’t feeling well. He was eventually rushed to the medical facility for assistance.
Williams acknowledged that he suffered intense dehydration and that his illness from earlier in the week had made everything worse.Fortunately, the on-site medical staff examined him and gave him the all-clear.
“Following Logan’s retirement from the Grand Prix, he has been assessed and cleared by the medical team on-site after suffering from intense dehydration during the race, weakened by having flu-like symptoms earlier in the week,” the team stated.
Sky F1 pit lane reporter Ted Kravitz, additionally noted that Alex Albon was missing from the post-race media conference.
Williams gave some additional details by saying that Albon had been sent to the hospital for treatment because of acute heat exposure. Luckily, the medical staff also gave him the all-clear.
“Following the Qatar GP, Alex was taken to the medical center to be treated for acute heat exposure,” Williams confirmed. “He has now been assessed and cleared by the medical team.”
Alex Albon finished in 13th place despite suffering health issues, boosting the Williams team.
As the Williams duo make preparations for their upcoming race at the United States Grand Prix, which will take place at the Circuit of the Americas from October 20 to 22nd, both drivers are currently going through their recovery process.
