Denny Hamlin won on Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway, much to the displeasure of the NASCAR fans who booed him, but he didn’t appear to care.
Hamlin won the Bass Pro Shops Night Race on Saturday night to round out a strong performance at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The Bristol crowd was booing the NASCAR driver while he was speaking with a reporter moments later. Hamlin didn’t hesitate to hand it back to them straightaway.
“Are these fans motivation for you?” asked the reporter referring to the booing fans. “There’s a lot of boos out there.”
“Hey. I beat your favorite driver,” said Hamlin, who started walking away.
When asked who he was referring to, he added “All of them.”
Perhaps he was talking about Kyle Larson, who came in second. Alternatively, he might be referring to the top-five finishers Christopher Bell, Chris Buescher, or Ty Gibbs.
Martin Truex Jr. or Bubba Wallace, who were able to cross the line of elimination to advance as the final two into the Round of 12 in the playoffs, could have also been the drivers that Hamlin was refering to.
Meanwhile, this season’s title race fell apart for Michael McDowell, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Joey Logano, and Kevin Harvick.
