Ducati Corse and the Gresini Racing Team announced their partnership will be extended by two more years only a few days after Alex Marquez’s first MotoGP victory with the Faenza-based team.
The 2024 MotoGP season will also see Alex Marquez continue to race in Gresini colours after striking a deal on a contract extension to stay with the team for at least one more year.
The Spaniard joined the team in 2023 after three years as a rider under contract to Honda. Marquez spent his rookie season in 2020 with the factory Repsol Honda team before taking Cal Crutchlow’s spot at LCR as the marque’s unofficial third factory rider.
Gresini also provided more news about its future after it disclosed that it has extended a two-year supply agreement with Ducati. This agreement originally started after Gresini decided to stop managing Aprilia’s factory operation ahead of the 2022 season.
Gresini has been working with Ducati for the past two years, and this morning it was announced that the partnership will last until 2024 and 2025.
Ducati’s General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna expressed his happiness to continue partnering with Gresini.
“We are delighted to continue to have the Gresini Racing MotoGP team in the Ducati family for two more seasons,” Dall’Igna said. “They are an extremely professional outfit and, over the years, have shown that they have the potential to aspire to great results.
“Last year they scored four beautiful victories with our Desmosedici GP machine, and this season they clinched a podium, a pole position, and a win in the last GP Sprint with Alex Marquez.
“We are sure that together we will achieve more success in the future and continue to grow race by race.”
With Fabio Di Gianantonio widely rumored to be leaving Gresini, the squad only needs to decide who will partner Marquez in its riding lineup for the upcoming season.
Moto2 front-runners Tony Arbolino and Jake Dixon, as well as Yamaha exiting rider Franco Morbidelli, have all been linked to the seat.
