Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas received the keys to his Mercedes-AMG One just a few months after receiving an Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm, making him one of the hypercar’s 500 owners.
Valtteri Bottas couldn’t contain his excitement after taking delivery of his Mercedes-AMG One as there were only 275 units made, posting on Instagram that the hypercar was “worth the wait.”
This is not surprising given that the Mercedes-AMG One is a real F1 engine-equipped hypercar that is also quite rare. The car sports a 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid V6 engine with 1,048 horsepower that was inspired by the F1 race car.
The hypercar has an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that enables it to drive on the road thanks to the power unit’s combination with four electric motors on each wheel.
The Mercedes-AMG One is impressive on the racetrack as well. In fact to the point that the German hypercar completed the shorter course circuit at the Nurburgring in 6:30.705, overcoming the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT2 RS to claim the title of fastest lap time. The time difference over the previous record holder is a staggering eight seconds.
Bottas has previously been linked to Mercedes, so this is nothing new. Bottas formerly partnered with seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton at the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.
The Finn won 10 races with the team and his contribution to Mercedes’ eight-year streak of constructors’ championships, which began in 2014 is significant.
Bottas is successful off the track with his car collection, but the driver has trouble scoring points racing under Alfa Romeo.
The 33-year old has only collected five points after nine races in the 2023 Formula One season. His best result was a P8 in Bahrain’s first round followed by a P10 at the Canadian Grand Prix.
The British Grand Prix is the next Formula 1 round coming up this weekend at Silverstone and we’re hoping he shows up there in his gleaming blue Mercedes-AMG One.
