Pirelli tyre compounds for the next three races confirmed

The sole tyre manufacturer for Formula 1 has stated ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix that teams will use the same Pirelli tyre compounds as last year for the next three events.

The three Pirelli tyre compounds choices for the soon to come Grands Prix in Canada, Austria, and Great Britain will be the same as they were last season.

Teams will have access to the softest possible mix of compounds for the next two races in Montreal and Spielberg by using the C3 as P Zero White hard, C4 as P Zero Yellow medium, and C5 as P Zero Red soft set. In comparison, at Silverstone, the C1 will be the hard tyre, C2 the medium, and C3 the soft.

Being competitive on this track requires steadiness during braking and adequate traction. With the safety car being frequently present due to incidents as a result of the harsh nature of the course, managing strategy during the race is typically challenging.

Formula 1 teams will travel a great distance from Montreal to Spielberg, where the Austrian Grand Prix will take place just two weeks after the Montreal event. The fast Spielberg circuit has the fewest corners of any place on the schedule with just 10 turns.

At the Red Bull Ring, teams and drivers will experience a challenging and action-packed weekend as it stages the second Sprint Race of the season on Saturday, which will be accompanied by the Sprint Shootout to set the grid spots.

The teams will later convene at Silvestone, which will be the venue for the British Grand Prix from July 7-9 just one week later. Pirelli’s new specification for slick tyres will make its official debut at the same track where the Formula One World Championship’s inaugural race was held in 1950.

The introduction of a material that has already received homologation and was initially intended for 2024 gives this new specification which the teams tested out during Friday free practice in Spain, greater fatigue resistance. Alternatively, it is identical to the specification that will be in use up until the Austrian Grand Prix.

The Silverstone circuit will make for an excellent test venue for the new tyres due to the demanding track’s numerous rapid turns that place high lateral energy loads into the rubber.
