Austin Hill holds off Kligerman to win Atlanta Xfinity race

Austin Hill held off Parker Kligerman’s late drive at Atlanta Motor Speedway to win the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday.

Hill led for 103 of the 163 laps in the Raptor King of Tough 250. This marked his second victory at the 1.54-mile track in Georgia and was his seventh win in the Xfinity Series.

The No. 11 Kaulig Racing Chevy driven by Daniel Hemric crossed the finish line 0.085 seconds after the winner. He was declared the race’s runner-up. A sliding Kligerman finished in fourth, Riley Herbst in fifth, and Ryan Truex in third.

On the last lap, Hemric pushed his way into the action and made contact with Kligerman’s No. 48 Big Machine Racing Chevy as they raced to the checkered flag. The No. 21 Richard Childress Racing Chevy driver managed to hold on for his third victory in the year’s first five races despite a brief contact forcing Kligerman’s vehicle into Hill’s side.

An all-time high 12 caution periods stopped the race. Josh Williams was involved in two incidents that resulted in early cautions, with the first incident involving damage to his No. 92 DGM Racing Chevy on Lap 26.

Five laps later, Williams was summoned to the pit and eliminated from the race by NASCAR officials after his car’s debris caused another yellow to appear on the track. Instead, during the caution period, he parked on the start/finish line, got off his car, and walked to pit road in protest.

Williams was detained at the Xfinity Series trailer for talks with NASCAR officials. Bryan Berry, the crew chief of the No. 92 car, and team owner Mario Gosselin were also summoned.

The next Xfinity Series race is scheduled to take place at Circuit of The Americas on Saturday, March 26 (3:30 p.m. ET, FOX, PRN, SiriusXM).
