Toprak Razgatlioglu delivered a masterclass performance at the 2025 Portuguese WorldSBK Race 2, completing a spectacular Portimao treble victory at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
The reigning WorldSBK champion showcased his exceptional talent and determination aboard the ROKiT BMW Motorrad M 1000 RR, overcoming fierce competition and mechanical challenges to secure a clean sweep of victories across the weekend.
The 2025 Portuguese WorldSBK Race 2 began under clear skies, with Toprak Razgatlioglu starting from pole position following his dominant performances in Race 1 and the Superpole Race.
The Turkish rider was immediately locked in a battle with Aruba.it Racing Ducati’s Nicolo Bulega who had been his closest rival throughout the weekend.
Both riders demonstrated their contrasting strengths: Razgatlioglu’s unparalleled braking precision versus Bulega’s Ducati-powered acceleration out of corners. The opening laps saw them trading positions multiple times thrilling the 53,000-strong crowd in attendance.

However, the race was interrupted on lap eight by a red flag following a dramatic crash involving Jason O’Halloran at Turn 1. The Pata Yamaha rider lost control and slid into the gravel prompting officials to halt proceedings for safety reasons.
Fortunately, O’Halloran escaped serious injury, but his incident underscored the unforgiving nature of the Algarve circuit.
The restart reset the stage for another intense showdown between Razgatlioglu and Bulega who resumed their duel at the front. The duo pushed their machines to the limit with neither able to establish a decisive gap.
Toprak Razgatlioglu’s ability to outbrake Bulega into tight corners was countered by Bulega’s superior straight-line speed, creating a fascinating tactical battle.
On the final lap, however, Bulega made a crucial mistake after running wide at Turn 1 which ultimately allowed Razgatlioglu to seize control. The BMW rider crossed the finish line just 0.195 seconds ahead of Bulega to win 2025 Portuguese WorldSBK Race 2, completing a remarkable Portimao treble.
Behind the leading duo, Álvaro Bautista struggled to match their pace despite starting from the front row. The Ducati veteran finished in third place, over three seconds adrift of Bulega. Bautista’s performance was solid but fell short of expectations given his team’s dominance in recent seasons.

Andrea Locatelli of Pata Maxus Yamaha claimed fourth place after an uneventful race, while Michael van der Mark rounded out the top five on his BMW.
Danilo Petrucci delivered a consistent performance to secure sixth place for Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati. Axel Bassani of bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team finished seventh, demonstrating steady improvement throughout the weekend.
Honda’s Iker Lecuona took eighth place after battling with Dominique Aegerter and Yari Montella, who completed the top ten.
Meanwhile, Andrea Iannone endured a frustrating race filled with penalties. The Italian rider received a double long-lap penalty for jumping the start in the original race and compounded his woes by failing to serve both penalties correctly.
This resulted in a ride-through penalty during the restart, effectively ending his chances of a competitive finish. Iannone eventually retired from the race, capping off a disappointing weekend for Team Pata Go Eleven.
Toprak Razgatlioglu’s Portimao treble hat-trick marked a significant turning point in his season. After struggling with bike setup issues during the opening round at Phillip Island, he demonstrated that he remains a formidable force in WorldSBK.
His ability to extract maximum performance from an imperfect machine underscored his status as one of the most talented riders on the grid.
Nicolo Bulega’s consistent podium finishes across all three races kept him atop the championship standings with 111 points. However, Razgatlioglu’s perfect weekend propelled him into second place with 82 points, narrowing Bulega’s lead to 29 points.
Danilo Petrucci sits third in the standings with 60 points after another solid weekend.
